Parish Mission Statement
The mission statement of Knox Presbyterian Church is:
"To grow in Christ and make Him known. To enable people to learn through God's word and our actions and so develop a Christ-like community". The general goals and objectives of all groups and organizations of the Church are in keeping with this statement.
The Manse
The Church owns a freehold Manse about a 5 minute drive from the church in Morrinsville. It is a brick clad home with 3 generous bedrooms. The manse is occupied by minister and their family as they are employed by the church.
Brief History
The first recorded Presbyterian Church Service was held in the Piako (Morrinsville) School Room at 11.00am on 27 May 1877. The School Room continued to be used for services until 1895 when the Anglican Church was built and this was used once a month for Presbyterian services.
In 1909 the Presbyterian Church was built and although this has now been demolished the new church occupies the original site in Canada Street. The present complex was opened on the 18 November 1984. Further information can be found in the booklet by Rev. W. M. McLeay titled 'Knox Morrinsville'1877 - 1976.
The parish is one of loving, friendly, caring fellowship which is strengthened by the sharing of the giftings God has granted to everybody.
